Brake hose deterioration

Flexible brake hoses on the C-Class show accelerated deterioration compared to other vehicles, with rubber compounds that crack, bulge, and split under pressure. The flexible coupling (flex disc) connects the transmission output shaft to the propshaft on rear-wheel-drive C-Class models. This rubber-bonded component deteriorates with age and mileage, causing vibration, driveline shunt, and eventual complete failure.
